Gardner, 64, of Route 1, a native of Nansemond County, died Tuesday in a hospital. Gardner had retired from farming. Survivors include a sister, Carrie Lee Gardner of Franklin; and two brothers, Joseph F. Gardner of Franklin and Robert E. Lee Gardner of Suffolk. The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Wright Funeral Home by the Rev. Clyde R. Alderman. Burial will be in the Gardner Family Cemetery, Cutchins Farm, Suffolk. The family will be at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. today and at his brother's home, 7940 Harvest Drive, Suffolk. Willie B. (Rt. 613) crosses the Norfolk-Southern rail line, was only the R.R. station between Franklin & Holland. The GARDNER family cemetery is included in Nansemond Co. It appears from satellite as lying just north of the Norfolk-Southern tracks, about ¼-mile west of where Barnes Rd. (Rt. 651) crosses the tracks, and about ½-mile east of Elwood, and about 2 miles west of Holland. His parents, Willie Uriah & Elnora (VAUGHAN) GARDNER, are also buried there. D.Cert. 84-018759 gives never married. The family appears in the 1950 Census in Windsor Dist., Isle of Wight Co., 1½ miles from Lee's Millpond.
